Dessert Wines!

Tis' the season to drink dessert wine!

A midst the final shopping weekend madness shall be LC's Blackbird, with a taste of port to ease your nerves or maybe even to inspire a gift option!

Tasting menu:

Dows Late Bottled Vintage Porto (Portugal)

Dow's LBV is full-bodied, rich but perfectly balanced with soft peppery tannins and with a fine acidity that ensure perfect balance on the palate. The classic Dow's dry finish is always present in the house's LBV; it is one of the finest LBV Ports available.

Chateau Le Pradey Sainte-Croix-du-Mont (France)

Sainte-Croix-du-Mont is a small appellation, which faces Sauternes and Barsac, where the Garonne and Ciron rivers meet. It has an unusual and exceptional terroir, based on a plateau comprised of vast fossilised oyster beds. The 460 hectares of vineyards lie on the sometimes steep hillsides with their massive out-croppings of pure limestone. The grapes are affected by botrytis cinera (noble rot) ripening slowly in autumn. The wines are fresher and livelier than the Sauternes and Barsacs from across the river.

Clear golden colour, with a complex nose of honey and crystallized fruits, peach and apricot, quince and marmalade. Fleshy unctuous palate that is harmonious and velvety. Not high in residual sugar, good balance and length.

Yalumba Museum - Muscato (South Australia)

Founder Samuel Smith first made port back in the 1860s, and the South Australian Governor (1914-1920) Sir Henry L Galway selected his own personal "pipes" from the Yalumba bodega. Today Yalumba maintains its reputation for its premium quality fortified wines by occasionally releasing very small parcels of Show Reserve stocks. This old Muscat was sourced from the Rutherglen and other Northern traditional areas of Victoria then blended and stored in French oak puncheons in our marble cellars at Angaston for eight years.

Classic rose petal and orange rind of the Muscat grape. Full, luscious middle. Richly flavored, reminiscent of raisined fruits, nuts and spices. Sweet and soft yet unclaying finish. Incredible persistence of flavors.
